Official Game Rules
Everyone plays by the same rules. Here they are.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
Season 1
Season 1 starts Monday, Nov 2 at noon Eastern, and runs through Jan 3, 2027. Florida is home: the street, the houses and most of the files are set there. Now and then the game takes you somewhere else, like a mountain town or a rural area.
Not in Florida? The questions are universal, with a few area-specific ones sprinkled in for fun.
The last week, from Dec 28 to Jan 3, is the Finale. After the season ends, the game closes until Season 2.
Before Nov 2 is the preseason. You can play, but preseason play never counts toward the prize. Each week runs Monday 12:00 AM to Sunday 11:59 PM Eastern.
When it's open
The game is open every day, weekends and holidays included.
Orders and fees
Prize orders. Every week has 10 prize orders, the same houses and rules for every player, in the same order, and each player gets their own version of the same question, so a shared answer doesn't fit. They're the only orders that count on the prize leaderboard. You get 2 a day, Monday to Friday, in My Inbox: a Rush and a regular order. Play them one at a time, in any order. Miss a day and make it up on the weekend; orders not played by Sunday at midnight are gone. In the preseason (Oct 28 to Nov 1) they don't count.
Game orders. Game orders pop up on the map. They pay points and move your level, but they never count on the prize leaderboard. Free players can take 1 a day and PRO+ players 3, Monday to Friday.
Game orders pop up from 6am to 7pm your time. Catch one before another appraiser does. With your prize orders, a week holds 15 orders in all on the free plan and 25 on PRO+. Missed a day? Catch up on Saturday or Sunday, one day's orders at a time. Once your week's Game orders are in, the next ones come Monday.
A Rush pays more the faster you finish it. A missed prize order costs no points. An order you take and don't finish, or cancel, loses its fee and costs a quarter of what it would have paid you, except while you're a trainee.
A blocked file, or one a reviewer may send back, gets one chance to fix it. Miss that and the fee is gone, and it costs a quarter of what it would have paid you, except while you're a trainee.
Fees are paid in points (pts), the game's money. Points aren't real money and can't be cashed out.
Levels and bosses
Everyone starts as a Trainee. You move up by the files you turn in: Field Runner at 15 files, Maverick at 60 and Elite at 130. Up to 3 files a day count toward your level, 5 on Pro and during your free Pro days. A fix doesn't count. From Dec 19 to Jan 3, each one counts double, and Game orders pay double. Each level brings bigger jobs and bigger fees. As a Trainee, your supervisor keeps 40% of each fee, the way a trainee works under a licensed appraiser.
Brandon, the first boss, opens after your 15th file: 5 of 6 right, no clock, one try a day.
Beating a boss the first time pays Game points and a badge, never season score. Leaving a fight counts as your try. If you beat Gunter, the game is done: thank you for playing. After that, Game orders are bonus play with no points, and your Top 100 standing stays put. Your prize orders still count toward your season score until the season ends. When the season ends, the game closes until Season 2.
How the leaderboard scores
There are two leaderboards. Scores count from Monday, Nov 2, the day the new rules start. Both open to players on Monday, Nov 9, for everyone, free and PRO+; until then everyone sees themselves at #1 over sample players.
- The prize leaderboard counts only the prize orders: 10 a week, the same houses and rules for every player at the same difficulty, at every level and on every plan. Your day runs midnight to midnight in your own time zone, from your ZIP. A prize order you don't play scores 0, and leaving a file partway turns it in as it is.
- The Top 100 ranks Game points from your first day, pre-season included: what all your files paid you, bills left out. It's just for bragging rights. Every player is ranked on it; the board itself opens with PRO+ (and during your free Pro days). The prize leaderboard is open to everyone.
On the prize leaderboard, every file is scored the same way at every level and on every plan. Pro adds Game orders, not season points.
- Each file has 2 questions and is worth up to 100.00 pts. Every question is worth the same share: miss one and the file scores 50.00 pts.
- Each day's Rush (one of the day's two prize orders) adds up to 25.00 pts when every answer is right. We take off a quarter of a point for each second you average per question, timed by our server to the thousandth of a second, and it never goes below zero. Example: 2 questions in 24.694 seconds is 12.347 seconds each, so the Rush adds 21.91 pts.
- Game orders, boss fights and Your Call polls don't count on the prize leaderboard.
- If a question in a prize order turns out to be wrong, everyone who answered it gets it counted right, and the leaderboard updates. Whoever flagged it gets thank-you points in the game wallet, which don't count toward the prize.
The prize leaderboard starts over every Monday. Your season score is your best 3 weeks, so a missed week won't sink you.
The most a week can score is 1,125.00 pts.
If two players have the same score, the tie is broken in this order:
- The faster average Rush time per question over the season.
- More clean files (every answer right).
- More right answers.
- Whoever reached the tied score first, by our server's clock.
If players are still tied, they play the same file at the same time, at the same level as the season's files, and the higher score wins. If they're still tied, they play another, until one scores higher. Chance never decides the prize.
Free players are on the board, and free players can win. Everyone's place on the board updates live.
The prize
One grand prize for the season's #1 on the prize leaderboard: a Caribbean cruise for two on Princess Cruises or a similar cruise line, or a vacation package, with a retail value of $1,999.99, or a check for $1,999.99 instead. The winner picks one. Emboss LLC pays for the prize. It doesn't depend on Season Pass sales or how many people play.
Once we reach the winner and confirm they qualify, we schedule an award ceremony together. If the winner takes the cruise, we pick it together at the ceremony. If the winner takes the check, we may ask for a short interview. We may record the ceremony or stream it live, or neither. Taking part in the ceremony, the recording or the interview isn't required to get the prize.
The prize can't be transferred. Sailing dates, cabin, departure port and any blackout dates follow the cruise line's or travel company's booking terms. Getting to the port, excursions, gratuities, port fees and anything else not in the booking are the winner's to pay. Princess Cruises isn't a sponsor of this contest and isn't connected to it, and neither is any other cruise line or travel company. If the prize becomes unavailable, we may substitute one of equal or greater value.
Each week's #1 is named in the game. Weekly winners get recognition only, no prize.
Who can win
- You must be a legal resident of the United States and 18 or older when you sign up.
- You must hold an active state appraiser license or trainee registration when you sign up and when the prize is awarded.
- You can't win if you're an administrator of an appraisal management company (AMC).
- You can't win if you're an employee, contractor, owner or officer of Emboss LLC, or in their immediate family or household. Game testers, reviewers and staff accounts can't win either.
Void where prohibited. Players in Connecticut, Tennessee and Montana can play Subject2, but they can't win a prize and aren't ranked on the prize leaderboard.
You're responsible for knowing whether your state's laws let you take part. We may also leave residents of Colorado, Maryland, Nebraska and North Dakota out of the prize if their laws don't allow this contest. Before we award the prize, we check the law in the winner's state. If it doesn't allow the contest, the prize goes to the next player on the season ranking.
Picking the winner
The top season score after the fair play and eligibility checks is the potential winner. We'll email the address on the account within 7 days after Jan 3, 2027.
To claim the prize, the potential winner has 14 days to reply, send a copy of their license or trainee registration and a photo ID, and sign a declaration of eligibility, a liability release and a W-9. We confirm the license with the state's licensing office. A trainee who wins also agrees to a background check, with their written consent.
If they don't reply, don't qualify or don't sign, the prize goes to the next player on the season ranking, down to #3. We'll award the prize by Feb 1, 2027. If it goes to the next player, it may take longer.
All taxes are the winner's. We'll file a Form 1099 for the value of what they take when the law requires one.
With the winner's written OK, and unless the law forbids it, we can use their first name, last initial, state and game avatar to announce the result, without extra pay. We'll share a recording or stream of the ceremony or interview only with their written OK. Saying no never affects the prize.
To ask who won, write to us at the address under Who runs it after Feb 1, 2027.
Fair play
Scores are checked and recorded by our server, using its own clock, not your phone's. Nobody can change a score by changing their device.
Our server deals the prize orders and pre-season orders, the same houses and rules for everyone, with each player's own version of the same question, and scores a file only if its questions are the ones it dealt to that player. Every file shuffles the order of a card's answers.
- One account per person and one license per account.
- No shared accounts.
- No scripts, bots, automation or tools that read or change the game.
- No help from anyone else while you play.
- Everyone gets the same houses and rules in the prize orders, so don't share them. Posting a prize order's question or answer anywhere public, like social media or a forum, before that week's orders close on Sunday at midnight gets your account banned. After the week closes, its questions are fair to talk about.
- Don't use answers someone else shares. Sharing answers gets everyone involved disqualified.
- Every prize order and pre-season order is marked to your account, so a screenshot or a copy of one can be traced back to you.
Files turned in faster than a person can read them, under 2.5 seconds a question, again and again, get a closer look.
Our system also looks for accounts that answer alike, one right after the other. We record devices, internet addresses, locations and timing, and flag play that doesn't look like a person's.
We may suspend or ban an account and remove scores that break these rules. Before we award the prize, we may ask you to prove your license and identity, and to play a short supervised session on a video call.
If we change how scoring works, we'll post the change here, with the date it starts, at least a week before it starts.
Not gambling
Subject2 is a game of skill. Your score comes from how well you work each file. Nothing of value is won by chance, and there are no bets or wagers. You never have to buy anything to play or to win.
Season 1 has one grand prize, under The prize above. Everyone else plays for bragging rights and badges.
Pro and the Season Pass
Pro is one Season Pass. You pay once, nothing renews, and there are no refunds. The price goes up once, and it's counted from the day you sign up:
- $19 for your first 10 days (the Founder price), with the Subject2 Founder OG badge. Once a Founder, always a Founder.
- $39 from day 11, starting at midnight, with no Founder badge.
- Once, a Flash Offer may show: $15 for the same Season Pass, for a few minutes. Closing it ends it. It keeps the Founder badge only inside your first 10 days.
Pro lasts through the end of the season, Jan 3, 2027.
Every new player gets 1 week of Pro free, with nothing to pay and no card. After that you're on the free plan unless you buy the Season Pass.
Browsers and technical problems
Play Subject2 on the latest version of Chrome, Safari or Edge. Other browsers may work, but we can't promise they will.
We aren't responsible for technical failures outside our control. That includes a lost internet connection, a phone, computer or browser that fails, a browser that clears its saved data, and an outage at a service we rely on. If one of these costs you a file, a streak or a spot on the leaderboard, we can't promise to restore it.
If something stops the contest from running fairly, we may pause it, change it or end it, and award the prize on the fair scores up to that point.
Release, disputes and privacy
You take part at your own risk, and you're responsible for following the laws where you live. By playing, you release Emboss LLC and its owners, employees and partners from claims for any injury, loss or damage from taking part or from accepting or using the prize, including travel. We aren't responsible for files lost, late or garbled by any network, device or service.
These rules follow Florida law. Any dispute goes first to mediation in Pinellas County, Florida. If mediation doesn't settle it, it goes to the state or federal courts in Pinellas County, Florida. Our decisions on scoring and eligibility are final.
We use what you give us to run the game and the contest, as our Privacy Policy explains. We log sign-ins, devices and internet addresses for fair play and keep them through the season plus 90 days.
